When creating process variants or dedicated process instances, it might be necessary to change names, descriptions, or other attributes of process elements that originate from a process module and are therefore read-only.

To achieve this, process modelers can use the “Overwrite” operation on a process element. Names, descriptions, and other element attributes can be locally modified after the element has been overwritten and are not being updated through subsequent process module updates. Element associations are still being updated.
