Automotive SPICE 4.0 Installation

Automotive SPICE is the de-factor standard in the automotive industry for evaluating and improving development processes of software-based systems in and around the vehicle.

Automotive SPICE 4.0 was released in late 2023 and is available as a reference model in Stages.

How do we get the Automotive SPICE 4.0 reference model?

Send an inquiry to the Stages customer care team. Please indicate if you are using Stages as a managed service or still use an on-premise installation. The team will either schedule the Automotive SPICE 4.0 installation on your managed service or send you an installation package.

Can we transfer our mappings from Automotive SPICE 3.1 to 4.0?

Yes, Automotive SPICE 4.0 comes with a mapping back to version 3.1. It was created by the UL Solutions Automotive SPICE expert team, so it is not part of the official standard.

A detailed guide on how to transfer your mappings from 3.1 to 4.0 is contained in the guide, which is part of the installation package.

Do we need a new metamodel configuration?

As “Output Work Products” were renamed to “Output Information Items” in Automotive SPICE 4.0, a new metamodel configuration needs to be installed. If you are using Stages as a managed service, it will be automatically installed as part of the Automotive SPICE 4.0 installation. In case you run Stages on-premise, you can download it here for Stages version 7.9 and here for Stages version 7.10 and later.

Are there any additional fees?

If you have your current Automotive SPICE reference model covered by maintenance or it is part of your subscription contract, there are no additional fees for Automotive SPICE 4.0.

If this is not the case, please contact our sales team for more info on how to get Automotive SPICE 4.0.

Do we need a specific Stages version?

To correctly transfer existing compliance mappings from Automotive SPICE 3.1 to the new 4.0 version via the “transferMappings” script, Stages versions 7.9.15.2, 7.10.6.1 or later are required. If you are using Stages as a managed service, the new Stages versions will be automatically installed as part of the next monthly version upgrade. If you had objected to the automatic upgrades or you use Stages on-premise, please contact the Stages customer care team to request information about this upgrade.
